Meter changeouts
The typical useful life for a water meter is 15 to 20 years. Lilly Grove SUD has a project where we replace outdated meters. Although it costs the water system to replace the meters, the replacement program ensures that Lilly Grove SUD bills customers for all the water actually being used. Will monthly bills increase? Due to their age, current meters are most likely measuring 90% to
96% accurate. Because new meters will measure water with 99% to 100% accuracy, your bill
may slightly increase following your new meter installation.
Distribution Valve installation
We will begin installing distribution isolation valves on the Lilly Grove system. These valves help us to isolate water going in a specific direction. This is tremendously helpful in the event of a system leak. The first valve will be installed on Dec. 4, 2024. Lilly Grove SUD will issue more information on this project soon.
New Generator being installed at our Martin Plant on 3/5/25
This new generator will help us to ensure that we can maintain our water supply during power outages caused by storms, natural disasters, or grid failures. This will allow us to continue pumping and treating water even when the main power is down, which will help us to prevent disruptions to residents' access to clean water.
Flushing
Water line flushing is a critical function that supports Lilly Grove SUDs most important mission: to consistently provide healthy, high-quality drinking water to the community. What is water main flushing? Water main flushing moves water systematically through sections of a drinking water distribution system, creating a scouring action to clean the line. The increased flow rate scours the water pipe's inner walls and helps to remove build-up of naturally occurring debris and sediment.
